Action Plan for Diamond Open Access

簡介： Some open access (OA) journals cover their expenses through author-side fees called article processing charges (APCs), which function as barriers to authors who cannot find funding. Diamond OA journals do not charge APCs, and are as open on the author side as they are the reader side. Because they exclude no authors on economic grounds, they are an essential part of a more inclusive and equitable system of scholarly communication.

DPC looks ahead: Strategic planning for 2022 – 2027

簡介： The Digital Preservation Coalition is building a welcoming and inclusive global community, which works together to bring about a sustainable future for our digital assets. We are making progress towards a new strategic plan which encapsulates this vision, for adoption in August 2022.  Having been endorsed by the DPC Council and Subcommittees over the last twelve months, a draft document is now available for review by all DPC Members. The draft will be taken to the next DPC Council Meeting in its current form, including any comments added by DPC Members up to Friday 10th June.

WorldFAIR: Global cooperation on FAIR data policy and practice – a major two-year project starts today!

Dat klinkt als muziek in de oren, vindt het bestuur van het Netwerk Digitaal Erfgoed. Vele erfgoedorganisaties zetten hier al jaren hun schouders onder. Een reactie.

Game Walkthroughs and Web Archiving

簡介： We will explore a proof-of-concept of using gaming concepts and platforms to inform web archiving. This will involve creating game walkthroughs of automated & human-driven web archiving sessions to capture the look and feel of sites and the sessions on those sites, and integrating the walkthroughs in playback systems such as pywb. We will also explore broadcasting browser-based crawling sessions (e.g., Webrecorder/Conifer, Brozzler) via gaming platforms like Twitch, Youtube Gaming, and Facebook Gaming.

Metadata Quality Improvement Project Now Underway

簡介： All the bibliographic metadata in the collection originates from member institutions that have deposited scanned objects with HathiTrust. To support remediation and enrichment work on those records, the initial phase of this project offers full-text access to the HathiTrust corpus to catalogers from the seven depositing institutions. Each of the participating member libraries will focus on a specific project within their own library and re-submit remediated content to HathiTrust.
